For a really relaxing coastal holiday on Islay, (we are no longer a working farm,) just 2½ miles (4km) from Port Ellen and close to many places of interest, our self-contained unit sleeps 4 comfortably. The photograph shows part of the rear garden that can be accessed or viewed from the kitchen
We are by the Port Ellen Lighthouse and there are beautiful views over the bay to Port Ellen. There is a small sandy beach in front of the house and just a few minutes walk away over the farmland is the beautiful beach known as “The Singing Sands.”
With the chance to see Otters, Seals, Wildfowl and occasionally Dolphins or Feral Goats there is much to interest nature lovers, photographers and artists.
The lighthouse is an unusual square shape and was erected in 1832 as a memorial to the Lady Eleanor Campbell by her husband, Walter Frederick Campbell. Don’t worry, there is no sweeping light or foghorn to keep you awake, just a brief glow for half a second every three seconds.
