Welcome to Carraig Fhada House

For a really relaxing stay on Islay, (we are no longer a working farm,) close to many places of interest our SELF-CATERING unit sleeps 4/5 comfortably or can be used for EN-SUITE B&B if required. Carraig Fhada Farm is by the Port Ellen Lighthouse; has incredible views over the bay to Port Ellen and also over the Atlantic to the Mull of Kintyre and Ireland.

The lighthouse is an unusual square shape and was erected in 1832 as a memorial to the Lady Eleanor Campbell by her husband, Walter Frederick Campbell. Don’t worry, there is no sweeping light or foghorn to keep you awake, just a brief glow for half a second every three seconds.

There is a small sandy beach in front of the house and just a few minutes walk away over the farmland is the beautiful beach known as “The Singing Sands.” With the chance to see Otters, Seals, Wildfowl and occasionally Dolphins or Feral Goats there is much to interest nature lovers.

As we are situated at the end of a Farm road there is no passing traffic but the peaceful setting does mean some form of personal transport is a blessing. We are approximately 2½ miles (4 Km) from Port Ellen and within easy reach of the Airport, Ferry and Harbour, Machrie Golf course and Three Distilleries.
